Classroom Management Plan Ms.
Ormerod 8th Grade English Language
Arts Rm. 814
Rules (Learning
Expectations)
1.
Be in your
assigned seat ready to work when the bell rings. 2.
Have paper,
pens, books and all needed supplies every day. 3.
Bad
language, rude gestures, cruel teasing or put downs are not permitted. 4.
Follow the
directions of any adult working at this school the first time given. Opening Procedures
Students
will come in and retrieve their journal from the back of the room (by
class period) and begin the warm-up for the day either on the overhead or
the white board. Each morning he/she should copy the schedule from the
white board into their school agenda before beginning. Journals will be
graded weekly to ensure thought and care is going into each assignment.
One daily grade will be given per week. Any
student who has been absent needs to retrieve their assignment from the
“makeup work crate” at the front of the room for the date they were
absent. Do not interrupt class to ask for what you have missed. Seating Procedures
All
students will sit in their assigned seats everyday. If a student changes seats with another, both students will
be counted tardy. Out-of-Seat
Procedures
Once
the bell begins ringing all students will be in their assigned seats.
Any student not in their seat when the bell begins to ring will be
considered tardy (no arguments). All
students must obtain permission before leaving their seats for any reason.
Pencil sharpening, throwing away trash, or any other maintenance
activity should be completed prior to class.
Infractions are subject to Jackson Learning Choices consequences. Out-of-Room
Procedures
Students
will remain in the class at all times, this includes bathroom, drinks, or
anything else that would require they leave the room. If a student feels he/she needs to leave they should raise
their hand and wait for the teacher to recognize them. I will follow Jackson hall pass policy as stated in the
student handbook, however, please be aware there will be certain times
that a hall pass is not possible. Don’t plan on getting a pass to go
anywhere! Only emergencies
constitute a hall pass. I
DECIDE WHAT CONSTITUTES AN EMERGENCY.
The nurses have set the guidelines that only, vomiting, blood, or
passing out require a visit to the nurses office unless doctor’s orders
require otherwise. A note
must be given to the teacher with specific doctor’s orders.
Any student leaving the room without permission will be given an
office referral. Material and
Equipment Procedures
All
students will bring to class a pen, paper, and their brain!
Having proper supplies is part of being able to keep up in class.
Consequences will be given to students who consistently don’t bring
their supplies. I keep a few
supplies in the room such as pens, highlighters, folders, etc. for the
students, but must be returned before leaving class. Students will refrain from taking things or using the
supplies on the teacher’s desk without asking permission.
Assignment Procedure
All
papers that are to be handed in must have the proper
heading. An example of the heading is provided below. All work must be
written in blue or black pen. Sample
heading:
Joe Smith
Aug. 27, 2007 English 8- (insert class period) Extra Credit
Extra
credit is not a regular part of the classroom plan. Students who are
having problems doing their regular work really need to concentrate on
his/her assignments as opposed to piling something new on them.
