Evaluation:

Six Weeks Grades:  50% Daily Work, 50% Major Grades

Semester Grades:  90% average of six weeks grades, 10%s Semester Exam

Yearly Average:  50% Semester A, 50% Semester B

** No late work will be accepted. **  However, the two lowest grades per six weeks will be dropped.

Course Objective:

To give students a working knowledge of the Science standards set forth by the state through the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS).  Specifically, 8.1 - 8.14.

Topics will include:

  • Physical Systems

  • Material Properties

  • Light and the Universe

  • Earth Systems

  • Human Interactions with the Earth Systems

  • Genetics

  • Proper Laboratory Practices

  • "Worth the Wait" Sexual Education Program.

Rules:

Classroom rules and attendance policies will follow the guidelines outlined in the "Jackson Middle School Behavior Management Plan 2004 -2005" including the classroom step plan.  Any additional rules will be posted in the classroom.
