Volunteers Wanted for 2007 – 2008

We are currently seeking board members for the following
positions:
* Vice
President – Serve as aide-to-the president. Perform
the duties of the president
in the event that the president is absent or can no longer
serve his/her
duties
* Parliamentarian
– Advise the presiding officer on questions of parliamentary
law
when requested
* Historian
- Keep a record of PTA activities and achievements
*
Life Membership/Scholarship – Heads the committee
and distributes the scholarship
applications to the high schools of graduating seniors who
attended
Jackson. Head the committee that nominates a Life Membership
recipient.
* Programs
– Works with a Jackson staff member booking choir, band,
cheerleaders
or drama to perform at each PTA meeting. If requested,
helps with
the planning of parent workshops with school counselor.
* Hospitality –
Plans and gets volunteers to help with teacher appreciation
week in
May
* Dances –
Books the DJ, works with parent chaperones, makes flyers to
put up around
the school promoting the dance. Arranges person to sell
tickets the week
of the dance.
* Concessions Stocker
– Does the shopping for the concessions to keep it stocked.
To assist, we have a checklist that is filled out by
the people who work
the concessions as items are used.
* Arts In Education
– Works with staff getting entries for the Arts in Education
contest and
the Environmental Contest, which State PTA will provide the
theme for
both.
* Council PTA Delegate
– Attends Council PTA meetings and brings back information
to local unit.
* Daytime Volunteer Coordinator
– We would like to se tup a parent contact for teachers
to call when volunteers are needed during the day to help
with copying,
hall monitoring and other needs. If you are available during
the day, please
let us know.
* Communications Chair
– Manages emails to PTA members, keeping them informed
on upcoming events
Please remember that your children
do not automatically grow up when they enter middle school.
This is a new phase of their lives and they still need parents
to be involved to help them make the right choices. Help your
children be more successful by staying involved.
