Jackson Middle School
305 W. Warrior Trail

1968 - 2001

Andrew Jackson opened as a junior high school on Warrior Trail in 1968 and in 1969 became Jackson/South, a combined junior and senior high school. For the first two years it was a two-story, one wing building with portables.  As the school population grew, a second wing was added and a new high school was built (South Grand Prairie High School.)  In 1974, Jackson became a middle school. Through the years, Jackson has been the "parent" of two other middle schools.  Both Truman and Kennedy were formerly in the Jackson school zone.  Jackson is still the largest middle school.

As the high school populations increased, the decision was made to convert the existing Jackson into a 9th Grade Center for South Grand Prairie. Renovations began in 2001 and building began on a new school on Corn Valley Road. In August 2002, Jackson Middle School moved to its new facility.
